Northern Serengeti migration theatre — Mara River crossings and remote fly-in camps.
Kogatende is the northern Serengeti’s prime base for Great Migration river-crossing season. From roughly July to October, herds mass along the Mara River and crossings can unfold in moments of chaos and drama. Remoter than central Serengeti hubs, Kogatende is usually reached by light aircraft and rewards guests who time their visit to the herds.
Even outside peak crossing weeks, northern Serengeti offers excellent predator country and open plains. We are honest about river-crossing luck — wildlife does not perform on schedule — and build enough nights for multiple chances.
If Mara River crossings are your dream, Kogatende puts you in the right theatre. Fly-in access shortens road days and places you near classic northern migration corridors.
For crossings, aim July–October and book early. Exact crossing weeks shift yearly with rains and herd movement.
No. We plan location and nights to maximise chances, never to promise a specific crossing.
Kogatende is northern river season; Ndutu is southern calving season. Your month chooses the region.
Three nights is a strong minimum in peak migration so you have several drive windows.
Flying is strongly recommended for time and comfort. Road access is long.
Share your preferred month — if herds should be north, we will shape Kogatende nights and flight links.
